One of the first things you will do when you set up a membership on The Bash is select your categories. This can be one of the keys to your success on The Bash. Your category selection determines how clients will find you on our site and will directly affect the quality of the leads you receive. To view your category selections, please follow these steps:
- Log into your Control Panel.
- Go to the 'profile' tab.
- Click the 'Edit' link for 'Category Selections'.
- Make your category selections.
- Click the 'Update Categories' button to save your changes.
It is important to know that the category options available to you are based on your choice of Membership Type and Primary Category. The Membership types offered by The Bash are as follows:
- Party Vendor
- Solo Musician
- Variety Entertainer
Once you select your Membership Type (first drop-down box on the 'Modify Categories' page) you then select your Primary Category (second drop-down box). We recommend selecting a popular Primary Category with broad appeal in order to maximize your level of exposure. Your Primary Category is the number one way that clients will find you on The Bash.
Next, it is time to select the rest of your categories. First off- it is important to know what not to do. You should not select categories that do not apply to you. If you select inappropriate categories, many of the leads that you receive will not be right for you and you will miss out on those leads that would actually be a good fit. Selecting the most relevant categories will allow you to receive the most appropriate, quality leads.
*Tip - Think like a Client* We have noticed that many members select very specific categories in the effort to precisely define their service, however clients tend to search broader categories. For example 'Jazz Band' receives six times as many leads as 'Smooth Jazz Band' and 'Comedian' gets five times as many as 'Standup Comedian.' Clients use terms with which they are familiar, so try to think like a client when selecting your categories.
