About Santa Bill and Mrs. Claus.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, what you do, and how you got started!
We are retired clergy in our 10th season as a Claus couple. We worked together for over 30 years in the church, so we can often anticipate each other. We are equals! Mrs. Claus is not simply an ‘add-on’ and she takes the lead on many topics, with Santa ‘filling the blanks’—sometimes impishly. Mrs. Claus keeps me on track.
Can you share some details about a holiday event from last season?
Last year, lighting the Chicago Tree in Millenium Park with the Mayor was a great joy and we will repeat it on 11/22/24. Mrs. Claus was asked to dance by the Mayor and it was briefly seen on CBS 2’s nightly news and the next morning too. Awesome publicity, indeed!
Can you tell us about the most memorable holiday event you have booked through The Bash?
We really cannot say which event was most special, whether it’s photos and schmoozing at a restaurant, preschool, or those corporate lunches (where we invite parents to make quick videos for their kids to see) or knocking on the door of a family’s home to wide-eyed kids—The Bash gigs have all been worthwhile!
How do you keep the magic alive for both kids and adults during holiday events?
We ‘keep the magic alive’ by paying attention, listening well, and frankly, keeping it fun for us! Santa is an old ‘improv comedian’ who keeps Mrs. Claus on her toes. And she will give him ‘the look,’ or reign him in when he’s pulling out ‘sound effects’ goodies (a duck call, for T’was the Night Before Christmas? Really, Santa!?!) As people see us enjoying ourselves, it’s not hard for them to ‘catch the jollies.’
What feature on The Bash most helps you get booked for holiday events?
We love that when we give a quote through The Bash, we get the person’s email and phone and can quickly respond! Our enthusiasm and blessing of their ideas close the deal well.
What is your guess as to what the most asked Christmas gift will be this upcoming holiday season?
Girls may want a Barbie Dream House, boys might want something Minecraft related, but adults indeed tend to want experiences, not more ‘stuff'!
