Delivering a seamless and unforgettable experience can leave a lasting impact powerful enough to turn first-time clients into repeat bookings. We're sharing tips to help you get more repeat bookings, including insights from a pro on The Bash.
Repeat clients can become lifetime fans who refer your business to friends and family. Providing the best experience possible, following up after events, being authentic, and maintaining an open line of communication are key steps to building long-term relationships with clients. We caught up with Mr. Thrill DJ PLUS, a DJ, Elvis Impersonator, and Tribute Artist on The Bash, to learn how he keeps clients rebooking his services.
Here are 6 tips on how to turn first-time clients into repeat bookings
1. Provide an unforgettable experience
The opportunity to deliver an unforgettable experience begins with the first message or quote. Be transparent about your pricing, services, and ensure you are easily accessible to leads to answer any questions.
Check in throughout the weeks and months leading up to the event to confirm details, requests, and establish a payment deadline. On the day of the event, arrive early, offer to stay late, and be professional. Overall, going above and beyond leading up to and on the day of the event will ensure a smooth and positive experience for clients.
"I set out to give the best service that I can give. I try to give more than is expected, before, during, and after the event. I have been doing this for almost twenty years, and now most of my events are former clients or referrals from satisfied customers."

2. Follow up shortly after the event
Send a thank you message via email or text to your clients 24-48 hours after the event. Thank them for booking you, tell them how much you enjoyed working with them, and recall a memory or enjoyable moment from their event.
Take it one step further with personalization by sending clients a hand-written thank you card. People often remember these personal touches and extra tokens of appreciation.
"Sometimes we become friends on Facebook. After an event, especially a wedding, I will send a text of appreciation."

3. Offer an incentive for referrals or future bookings
In your follow-up, you can offer an incentive to book with you again, such as a discount, additional time, or package. Let them know you would be interested in providing your services for a celebration of theirs in the future, especially if it is a holiday party or other annual event.
Remind the client that since they now have your contact info, it can be even easier to book you in the future by simply sending a text or email to find out your availability. They can then submit a request through The Bash that you can easily book, collect payment through EventPay, and receive a review on your profile after the event.
"Sometimes it is years later that I get a booking, and I try to give people a break on price by not charging them top dollar or giving them a break on hours."

4. Request reviews and enhance your services
Reviews not only help you get future bookings, but also gather feedback on your services. Whether it's a written or verbal review, leverage feedback in a positive way to refine your skills and enhance your offerings. Making changes based on a client's feedback will show how much you value them and that you care about providing the best possible experience.
"It can take a while to build an online presence with positive reviews. Starting out, I requested reviews from clients, but now they come naturally."

5. Build authentic relationships
Approach the booking opportunity as a partnership, not just another event. Some clients have a vision for the event, while others may look to you for suggestions, recommendations, or ideas that they haven't thought of. Acting as a partnership and working together not only helps you deliver your best service but also allows you to be yourself and let your personality shine. This authenticity can lead to a strong partnership that results in future bookings and referrals.
"Sometimes clients want you to be a part of their family, and you are their family DJ for all their events. You can’t necessarily orchestrate this, except by being yourself, positive, sincere, and reading the crowd."

6. Keep in touch
If both you and the client have a positive experience, keep in touch to remain top-of-mind. This can include following the client on social media with their approval, adding them to your newsletter list, or sending timely mail, such as an anniversary or happy birthday note.
